The Heart Nebula in the constellation of Cassiopeia

IC 1805 THE HEART NEBULA in the constellation Cassiopeia

 

IC 1805 - the Heart Nebula is one portion of a large complex of faint nebulosity in the constellation of Cassiopeia. Its distance is about 6,700 light years with a visual magnitude of about +6.5. It is about 60 x 60 arc minutes in size and contains a loose open star cluster near the center of the heart known as Melotte 15. The beautiful red color of the heart is driven by the rediation emanating from Melotte 15.
