OPEN STAR CLUSTERS

M41 Open Star Cluster in the constellation of Canis Major.

M41 Open Star Cluster in the constellation of Canis Major.

M41 is a large bright open star cluster located in Canis Major. It is easy to find, located about 4 degrees south of Sirius, the brightest star in the sky. It has a visual magnitude of 4.5 and contains about 100 stars. The cluster lies approximately 2350 light years away. I will need to shoot this cluster again sometime as this version clipped some of the outer members of the cluster. Image details can be found here: M41 ( PSugg ) - AstroBin
